The Disco Retro Cube Light Drinks Cabinet

Once a Mid Century Bookcase, this sixties piece had lost it's relevance in a modern home so I decided to bring into the 21st century using bright colours and innovative materials.
I was inspired by the work of Artist Mondrian and his colourful cube paintings edged with hard black lines; so I sanded this back really well before priming then painting the legs and frame in smooth black eggshell. This contrasts with a flat white interior adding a 3D effect.
The back is covered in the original mirror and the colourful acrylic shelving grid is supported by matt black supports (please note this is not adjustable) I used a selection of primary colours in bold neon colours. These have a live edge so glow in the dark.
In addition I have added mains powered LED lighting which is fun to play with. I love how the colours show up differently in particular lights and depending on where you stand...it's all about the reflections with this piece!
Features hot pink tinted sliding door, again you can play around with leaving this open or closed and create different shapes.
In great vintage condition however bare in mind this piece dates from the 1960's, it's stands solid and the doors slide nicely on the runners.
This is a statement display piece, ideal for showing off artifacts or special glassware and some bottles. I have left the top shelf fully open for practicality.
This is a complete one off, featured recently as part of Clerkenwell Design Week in London as part of the 'POP' exhibition.
Please note this piece is handmade, there are some areas where the finish reflects that. Please bare in mind it hasn't been put together by a computer or machine. Perspex is also a very expensive material to work with and this is a prototype which reflects in the price.
This is truly one of a kind which if I had the space I'd love to have in my home.
