Believe it or not, this is my very first sale. I guess I've always felt furniture art is not really the same thing as mass-produced and on-trend products held by bigger stores. It’s more niche and being honest, I have never felt that large discounts gave vintage furniture, and the time spent designing it, the love that it deserved!
When sourcing pieces of vintage furniture, even before any painting happens, the pieces are unique in themselves. They are often handcrafted instead of machine-made like they are so often nowadays. I rarely see two items that are exactly the same, and so I treat each one as a unique, special treasure. I find them all very hard to part with when they go off to their new homes… in fact, it's crazy how sentimental I get!
However… I have an exciting project coming up next year which I need to prepare for! It's annoying I can't tell you anything about it just yet, but I need a bit of space clear in the studio and a fresh workspace to bring in some new inspiration. And, I guess I also feel like I'm ready for some changes too. Don't you feel like the change in seasons and the onset of Winter often makes us feel that way?
