A graceful example of Danish modern design, this rocking chair by Niels Eilersen combines sculptural elegance with everyday comfort with a beautiful wide seat and smooth rocking construction.
Crafted in Denmark during the 1960s, the chair showcases Eilersen’s expertise in woodworking and his commitment to timeless, functional forms. The frame, made in beech, takes inspiration from a classic ladderback design, finely proportioned with smooth, flowing lines for a contemporary look.
The frame has been restored to pale solid beech to contrast against new upholstery which has been re-done in a textured monochrome boucle to suit the mid century era from when this chair was made.
Subtle curves in the arms and runners create a gentle, balanced motion, while the seat and backrest provide inviting comfort. Eilersen, known for his family’s longstanding tradition in fine furniture making, brought a distinctive Danish sensibility to the rocking chair, a design that feels equally at home in modern and traditional interiors. It features restrained detailing and enduring craftsmanship, reflecting the best of Scandinavian design heritage.
This is a collectible rocking chair, ideal for design enthusiasts and anyone seeking an elegant, functional accent piece with lasting character.
The dimensions are as follows;
Height 99cm
Width 63cm
Depth 76cm
Height of Seat 40cm.
The chair is in beautiful condition consistent with age and use and has been restored to a good standard as once previously painted.
